THERE IS NO I IN IT features new sculptural, installation and performative works that explore the relationship between the subjective and objective, the internal and external, and what we know and what we believe. Each of these works encourage active participation and regard the viewer as an integral part of the completion of the work. By offering different levels of audience engagement, Bovinich and Hill raise questions about who determines the outcome of the work and ultimately, who authors its meaning.

KAREN BOVINICH received her BFA in Fine Art from Columbia College in 2010. Her work ranges in performance, video, sculpture and installation. Past exhibitions include VERSION 10: Territories and Infrastructures at Zhou B. Art Center and Girl: Please! at Woman Made Gallery, Chicago. Bovinich is also one of the founding members of the sculptural performance art group, Before Cake After Dinner. She currently lives and works in Chicago, IL

EJ HILL was born and raised in Los Angeles and lives and works in Chicago. Hill’s gestural performances often blend personal narrative with the materiality of the body. He has shown work nationally including in two recent performance exhibitions in San Francisco at SOMArts and LiVE WORK. Hill will receive his BFA in Fine Art from Columbia College in 2011.
