Artist Cooperative Residency and Exhibitions Project (ACRE) is overjoyed to announce The Boricua Scholarship, a recent scholarship addition designed to strengthen our ongoing commitment to diversity in all aspects of the organization. The Boricua Scholarship will enable an artist of Puerto Rican descent to attend the ACRE Residency free of charge. This includes food and lodging for the two-week residency period, as well as access to the myriad facilities and artist community enjoyed by ACRE Residents. ACRE strives create an inclusive environment, welcoming and celebrating all media of art production with a focus in interdisciplinary collaboration as well as fostering the involvement of underrepresented communities at the residency.
.
To qualify for the Boricua Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Apply to the ACRE Residency Program by program deadline. (Applications will be released in January 2015)
  • Must be an artist of Puerto Rican descent.
  • Indicate eligibility for the Boricua Scholarship on the financial aid section of the ACRE Application.
  • The scholarship will completely remove the financial burden of a single artist or two-person collaborative.

.

The Boricua Scholarship was established in 2014 in order to support Puerto Rican artists in Puerto Rico as well as across the rest of the United States by offering the opportunity attend the ACRE Residency program free of charge. A branch of ACRE’s recently renewed Diversity Scholarship Fund, the Boricua Scholarship supports our goal to engage partnerships that will support heterogeneity on all fronts at the residency and throughout our programming in the Chicago area.
