In the City, You Forget to Look at the Sky
In my most recent project, “In the City, You Forget to Look at the Sky” sculptural frames obscure photographs and viewers must peek around the sides of the structure to catch glimpses of the photographic image reflected in a mirror. Simultaneously, the mirror offers the possibility of the viewer’s own physical presence to intertwine with the images through reflection. The photographs depict instances of optical phenomena that are actively manipulated by fragmented human figures. Thought, sensation and nuance are foregrounded through image, but the obtrusive steel frame inhibits overt sentimentality.
