These sculptures reflect a set of veiled African influences embedded within Western culture and society, with a specific focus on subliminal states, histories and practices of double consciousness. Through highlighting the similarities between embedding public messages in textiles ranging from Akan kente cloth to African-American quilting, a collection of various kinds of discarded or repurposed woods have been curated to address the currently overlooked beauty of peoples of African decent within the United States.
