Goal: Create a space for open conversation about menarche, menstrual rituals & traditions, personal experiences & feelings centered on menstruation, inherent stigmas, etc. Provide materials & instruction for collage, watercolor, embroidery, creative writing, and crochet.
Materials: Menstruation texts, hand-dyed papers, hand-dyed cloth, watercolor, glue sticks, brushes, water cups, thread, needles, scissors, embroidery hoops, pencils, pens, markers, crochet hooks, yarn.
Ivy Guild will be hosting a free workshop that is open to the public on Sunday, April 7 at 1pm in conjunction with her work currently on view at ACRE Projects in The Intimacy of Invisibility, curated by Lauren Leving. The session will begin with a group conversation on menarche, menstruation, menstrual stigmas and myths, and personal history and experiences. As the conversations continue, the later portion of the workshop will include several optional outlets for personal meditative reflection and expression. Hand-dyed papers and fabrics will be provided for collaging, writing, watercolor painting, and embroidery, as well as yarn for those who want to learn how to crochet. All individuals are welcome and encouraged to participate.
