ACRE’s Sound Studio supports live performance, field recording and an isolated studio environment.
With digital recording capabilities, an expanding collection of microphones, and a nuanced and interesting contribution of equipment and software, our staff of experienced and friendly technicians will be able to provide insight and assistance on almost any sound based project, as well as provide workshops and tutorials on equipment, software, and instruments. Bands and musicians are welcome to apply, however, because of the program’s communal nature, ACRE’s sound facilities work best as a place for learning, composing and experimenting rather than as a traditional recording studio.
The studio has a versatile collection of gear, including a Pittsburgh Modular synthesizer system, Ensoniq ESQ-1, and a selection of MIDI controllers. Recording equipment features devices like the Zoom H4n and Shure microphones. The setup also includes a Yamaha drum kit, electric and acoustic guitars, multiple amps, and a computer workstation with audio interfaces and software such as Ableton and Logic for music production
