Touching a Talis Text(ile) with The Lace Midrash

Facilitated by Talmud teacher Annie Sommer Kaufman and weaver Rosemary Wexler / Organized in partnership with The Jewish Museum of Chicago, Pushcart Judaica, The Lace Midrash


Join facilitators Annie Sommer Kaufman and Rosemary Wexler in an hour of Talmud study that explores Marxist themes of fabric manufacturing and acknowledges the labor of textile production. Prior to this close reading, participants will engage in hands-on wool manipulation to learn about the steps referenced in the text, which touches on sheep shearing, garment production, and manipulating wool from the Masafer Yatta region of Palestine.

No previous knowledge of Hebrew is required, but you will probably end up learning some!
