Dear ACRE Community,
As an organization built on community and care, these uncertain times have increased our focus on what it means to come together in health and safety. ACRE continues to closely monitor the evolving outbreak of COVID-19 and we are taking every measure we can to limit the spread of the coronavirus. We’d like to share some updates on measures we are taking in light of this evolving situation.
We have decided to close ACRE Projects to the public for the foreseeable future. Exhibitions at ACRE Projects and our partner galleries scheduled through May will be postponed. Our brilliant Curatorial Fellows are working with artists to migrate iterations of their projects online and in publication form so that we can continue to engage, learn, and be inspired by each other.
The application review process for the summer residency is continuing as planned and we do not anticipate any delays in sending notifications. At this time, we plan to proceed with the summer residency sessions as scheduled. We care deeply about supporting the practices of artists and we intend to move forward with care as we adapt our forms of support in response to the challenges that this moment brings. From now until the sessions begin, we will work with the communities in Chicago and Steuben as we continue to monitor news from the CDC and follow directives from local and national government agencies.
In the case of an anticipated change or alteration to the program, we will communicate via email, social media, and our website. We are committed to providing all of the information we can to make informed decisions about summer travel.
As we begin our 10th year of operation, we look forward to reconnecting with our dedicated cohort of volunteers and re-engaging with our network of artist peers and partner galleries. This community-led effort will continue to pursue our mission of providing resources to emerging and under-represented artists and nurturing a diverse community of cultural producers.
Please monitor our website (acreresidency.org) and social media (@acreresidency) for future updates. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@acreresidency.org.
In solidarity,
ACRE
